Isaac Newton held several positions throughout his life. In 1671, he was invited to join the Royal Society of London after developing a new and improved version of the reflecting telescope. He accepted the offer and was later elected President of the Royal Society (1703). Isaac Newton ran for a seat in parliament in 1689. He won the election and became a Member of Parliament for Cambridge University where he served for one year. In 1696, Isaac Newton was appointed Warden of the Mint. Whilst serving in the position, Newton recalled all British coins and ordered for them to be replaced by new ones. Due to his good work and dedication to the mint, he was appointed Master of the Mint in 1700.
